Your guide will share insights about the vibrant murals and Buddhist symbols within the fortress, offering a deeper understanding of Bhutanese spiritual culture. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then visit the historic Kichu Temple, one of the oldest in Bhutan, nestled in the scenic Kichu Valley. In the afternoon, travel to Thimphu with a stop at the Tagcho Suspension Bridge, a historic landmark from the 13th century. After checking into your Thimphu hotel, relax and enjoy dinner in-house.

Begin with a visit to a traditional paper-making factory, where you’ll observe the meticulous process of creating handmade paper from the local Daphne plant. Then, explore the National Memorial Chorten, a monument that honors Bhutan’s late third king, and Kuenselphodrang Park, where a 169-foot bronze Buddha statue overlooks the Thimphu Valley. At the Institute of Traditional Arts and Crafts, interact with students practicing 13 traditional art forms, and discover the intricate techniques that preserve Bhutanese craftsmanship. After lunch, visit Chagangkha Temple, followed by the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal. Conclude with the vibrant weekend market along the Wangchu River and, finally, observe an archery match—the national sport of Bhutan. End your day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and a marvel of Bhutanese architecture.

Begin your day with a drive to Trongsa, passing the Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens and panoramic Himalayan views. Descend through lush forests to Wangduephodrang district, continuing through valleys and forests to reach Pelela Pass, the natural divide between western and eastern Bhutan. After an outdoor lunch, stop at Chendibji Chorten, a replica of Nepal’s Boudhanath Stupa, before arriving in Trongsa.

Visit Trongsa Dzong, an architectural masterpiece and once the seat of Bhutan’s most powerful leaders. Continue to Ta Dzong, now a museum with ancient artifacts and treasures. Journey onward to Bumthang, passing Yotongla Pass and the charming valley of Chumey, known for its traditional textiles.

Explore the spiritual heart of Bhutan, beginning with Jakar Dzong, and visit Jambay Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple tied to Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Delve into Buddhist history at Kurjey Lhakhang, a temple that preserves the legacy of Guru Rinpoche. Afterward, hike to Tamshing Monastery and Konchog Sum Temple. End the day with a visit to the famed Burning Lake in Tang Valley.

Depart for Phobjikha Valley, often called the “Switzerland of Bhutan” for its open landscapes and stunning scenery. Along the way, stop for views of Trongsa Dzong and enjoy lunch at Sephu. In Phobjikha, stroll through the valley and interact with locals, experiencing the essence of rural Bhutan.

Begin with a sunrise walk in Phobjikha Valley before hiking along the Black-necked Crane Center trail, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Visit Gangtey Monastery and explore the ancient religious culture it preserves. After lunch, proceed to Punakha, Bhutan’s former capital, via scenic mountain roads.

Tour the impressive Punakha Dzong, exploring its richly decorated interiors and sacred Buddhist murals. Next, hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley. After lunch, travel back to Paro, where you’ll have time toexplore the town.

Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched 1,000 meters above Paro Valley. En route, stop at the viewpoint cafeteria for refreshments and to capture the dramatic scenery. Explore the monastery’s various shrines and learn about the legends surrounding Guru Rinpoche’s visit.
