Detail Program

Begin your journey to Bhutan with a scenic flight across the Himalayas, where you may catch breathtaking views of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, proceed through immigration, collect your luggage, and meet your tour guide and driver, who will greet you with a traditional Bhutanese scarf and a travel kit.

Your Bhutan experience begins with a gentle walk from the traditional wooden Nimizampa Bridge to the impressive Rinpung Dzong, Paro’s historic fortress. As you enter, your guide will introduce you to the detailed murals and art that depict Buddhist teachings and protective deities. Explore the inner sanctum and courtyard, marveling at the monastery’s intricate architecture and spiritual ambiance.

Afterward, enjoy a traditional Bhutanese lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Kichu Temple on the outskirts of Paro. This 7th-century temple holds a revered place in Bhutanese history. Following your temple visit, take a scenic drive to Thimphu, stopping at Tagcho to explore a suspension bridge constructed by the legendary 13th-century Tibetan saint, Thangthong Gyalpo. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into your hotel for a relaxing evening and dinner.

Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital since 1955, is a vibrant city home to around 130,000 residents. Start the day with a visit to a traditional paper-making factory, where you can observe the intricate process of creating handmade paper from locally sourced Daphne bark.

Next, explore the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 in honor of the third King of Bhutan. Here, you’ll witness local Bhutanese engaged in prayer and rituals. Following this, visit the Kuenselphodrang Park, home to the world’s tallest bronze Buddha statue, overlooking the Thimphu Valley.

Continue your cultural immersion at the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students are trained in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Chagangkha Lhakhang, a 13th-century temple important to the Drukpa Kagyü lineage of Buddhism. You’ll then explore the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, the takin, followed by a scenic view of Thimphu from the BBS Tower at Sangaygang.

Conclude your day with a walk through the local weekend market and a visit to Changlimithang Stadium to witness a traditional archery match. In the evening, tour the historic Tashichho Dzong, which houses the office of Bhutan’s king and the summer residence of the central monastic body.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, the former capital and winter residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the central monk body. En route, stop at the Dochula Pass (3,100 meters), where you’ll have panoramic views of the Himalayas on clear days. Explore the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, built by the Queen Mother, and enjoy a brief refreshment stop.

In Punakha, hike through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility, before lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Spend the evening in a homestay in Lobesa, where you’ll experience authentic rural Bhutanese life.

Start your day with a hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a stupa built by the Queen Mother to promote peace and harmony in Bhutan. The 30-minute walk is a serene journey through rice fields and offers views of Punakha Valley.

Following the hike, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then drive back to Paro for the night.

Begin the hike to Taktshang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest, perched 1,000 meters above Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this cliff on the back of a tigress to meditate and conquer evil spirits.

The hike takes about three hours one way, with a rest stop at a viewpoint cafeteria. Upon reaching Tiger’s Nest, explore its various shrines and sacred spaces. Afterward, descend to the base and return to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk around Paro town for last-minute shopping.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey, carrying cherished memories of your Bhutan adventure.
